Crystal Lotus (Disneyland Hotel)

I was expecting to see cute disney characters adorning the restaurant and was surprised to find the restaurant decor rather classy.

The draw for me here is the Disney Special DIm Sum Lunch. This, despite the fact that I have mostly read negative feedback on the taste. There was one strong reason for me to forge ahead still: Cuteness overload. Haha.

We ordered two sets of the Disney Dim Sum with a few ala carte items to share amongst three adults and two small beings (otherwise known as lil’ monsters or kids).

2 sets of disney dim sum (hotel guest rate) was HKD776. The hotel is currently running a promotion till

Let’s go through the set menu first.

Scallops Salad with pomelo. Too sourish for my liking.

Mickey’s Seafood Glutinuous Pancake. Average.

(i) Little Pig BBQ Pork Bun  (ii) Little Green Men Pork and Vegetable Bun. The buns were not too bad.

Braised crab meat, beancurd and crab roe soup. I like this as it’s rather flavourful.

Wok fried shrimps and disney root vegatables. Fresh crunchy shrimps with a variety of vegetables. This dish has achieved a nice wok hei and was enjoyable.

Crispy Sesame chicken with lemon juice. This was not fantastic and the skin wasn’t crispy but honestly, it sat well with me still.

Abalone fried rice was nice.

Duffy red bean bun, chilled mango pudding and red bean jelly with osmanthus.

Unfortunately the latter two dessert couldn’t be seen clearly in my pic. I must have been in food coma by then.

The red bean bun was not that good but it was edible. The chilled mango pudding was very “powdery” and tasted rather artificial. Eeew..it was the only item I couldn’t finish beyond one bite even though not all items were good.

The red bean jelly with osmanthus was pretty refreshing.

We also ordered the following items from the ala carte menu.
Golden minnie shrimp dumpling (HKD88)

It’s hard to capture the minnie face on this golden shimmery dumpling skin. The taste was really just ordinary.

Crab & Shrimp Rice flour roll (HKD88)

The taste was good albeit a rather thick skin for the roll.

Swan vegetarian taro puff (HKD68). I love this!  Looking good and tasting good.

Overall, the meal was HKD1,044.

Perhaps my expectations has been adjusted lowered after reading the reviews, hence, I was actually pretty pleased with the food.
To add to it, the decoration was classy and the service was good.
This is perhaps not quite the place for a gastronomical experience but I think it is worth checking out,  at least once just for the Disney Dim Sum.
From what I understand, Disney Dim Sum set is available on weekends and reservation for the dim sum set is mandatory for weekdays. Certain character items that are not included in the set menu has to be pre-booked as well.
